Our Programs
NJAS offers a multitude of programs to meet the needs of our housing residents, people living with HIV/AIDS, their families and the community.
Residential Programs The Residential Programs offer a safe dignified place for people to live while they strive to overcome hardships in their lives that led them to homelessness. We believe that stable housing is the key to receiving and maintaining adequate health care.
Community Based Services New Jersey AIDS Services Community Based Services consist of a host of supportive services designed to address the complex issues people living with HIV/AIDS and their families face.
The Aftercare Program follows our residential graduates as they transition back into the community and assists them with their resettlement process. It provides the supportive services that allow our clients to live independently, while knowing that help is always available as they navigate their way back into society.
Community Case Management clients meet regularly with our Medical Case Mangers who provide the supportive services necessary to ensure access to medical care, retention in care and adherence to medications. In addition, this program helps to navigate and coordinate the complex social service system thus ensuring clients and their families have access to all available medical and supportive services that may help to optimize their life situations.
Community Based Mental Health Services are designed to help infected and affected persons address the complex issues surrounding a HIV diagnosis. Clients in this program receive in-home and/or office based weekly/bi-weekly therapy sessions as well as group therapy services provided by one of our state licensed clinicians.
Community Based Substance Abuse Counseling consists of individual sessions as well as community centered Relapse Prevention groups. This service allows clients with a history of substance abuse access to critical counseling services designed to help address issues that have contributed to their substance abuse.
Transportation Services allow clients who can not access public transportation the means necessary to attend critical medical and social service appointments. In addition to van/car transport, this program also provides financial assistance with NJ Transit bus and rail tickets.
Food Pantry Assistance is available for Community Case Management clients in the form of direct food assistance, as well as shopping vouchers. This service helps to ensure the nutritional needs of HIV positive people are met.
Laundry Assistance is available at our NJAS headquarters site located in the Greystone Park complex. This service provides low-income clients access to washers and dryers, helping to eliminate this weekly expense.
Education and Prevention Programs The Education and Prevention Programs of New Jersey AIDS Services aim to educate the community at large about the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis in America and to provide up to date information on prevention strategies, community impact and involvement, and treatment options.
